The National Park Service of Taiwan's Tainan Coastal National Park (abbreviated as the Tainan Coastal Branch) has long been dedicated to nature conservation and, through interpretive education, leads the public to a deeper understanding of the ecology and history of the Tainan Coastal area. To mark the 400th anniversary of Tainan, the Tainan Coastal Branch is presenting the special exhibition "Tainan Coastal Legends - Tainan 400. Memories of Sea and Land." This exhibition uses an engaging approach to present the historical evolution of the Tainan Coastal area. By combining interactive games and illustrations, the exhibition organically integrates nature conservation with historical culture, inviting visitors to explore the rich past of the Tainan Coastal area.
This exhibition, inspired by the "Telling Tainan Coastal Stories" interpretive volunteer theatrical performances, traces the major changes in the Tainan Coastal area and its surroundings from the Dutch arrival, whose rule was based on commerce, through the Zheng, Qing, and Japanese periods. It guides visitors to understand the origins and changes of historical sites, industries, and cultural landscapes.Volunteer Theater Performance and Guided Tour (Photo / Sourced from Taijiang National Park Management Office Website)
The exhibition combines historical maps and illustrations of people to recreate the settlements, economic, and political changes of each period. Through interactive games like "Historical Map Monopoly" and "Tainan Coastal NO.1," visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the Dutch exploration routes in the Tainan Coastal area and the impacts on settlements, industries, and political-economic developments resulting from the changing Tainan Coastal area.
