New Taipei City's annual cultural event, the Multicultural Festival, is themed “World Folk Arts Club” this year, with a series of activities starting from April. The Cultural Affairs Department of the New Taipei City Government integrates cultural characteristics from different communities, planning multiple open-format experiences ranging from neighborhood festivals to outdoor performances, allowing the public to encounter diverse cultures in daily life while expanding options for weekend outings.

The series has already begun, including the Burmese New Year bathing Buddha event previously held on Huaxin Street in Zhonghe, showcasing community cultural features. This is followed by the Indian Cultural Festival at Xizhi Dream Community, which includes parades, lighting ceremonies, singing and dance performances, as well as cultural markets, allowing participants to experience different cultures through multiple formats and bringing cultural exchange closer to everyday life.

The highlight events will take place from May 9 to May 10 at the outdoor park of the New Taipei City Art Museum. Programs include stage performances, market exhibitions, interactive workshops, and cultural lectures, creating an open cultural space for participation. Most activities adopt a free-entry format, allowing visitors to attend without prior registration, making it suitable for relaxed cultural outings and family participation.

In addition, six themed “Folk Art Walking Tours” are introduced this year, combining cultural walks with craft experiences. These tours guide participants through areas such as Xindian, Sanxia, Zhonghe, Wulai, and Pinglin, offering deeper insights into local culture. Registration is conducted online with limited slots available, and interested participants are advised to check availability in advance.
