The list of the top 10 finalists for the New Taipei “Heibaiqie” (black and white cut) contest has been officially announced. This year’s competition attracted 105 renowned Heibaiqie eateries. After a rigorous selection process involving online voting and expert evaluation, 10 outstanding stores were selected to compete in the final round on March 17, vying for the title of “Best Heibaiqie in New Taipei”. The winner will be announced on March 22 at the Full Pork Feast Market held at National Open University in Luzhou.
Director of the Market Administration Department, Li Chang-Kui, stated that the Heibaiqie contest not only showcases New Taipei’s local food culture but also promotes popular street food through professional judging and public participation. Each finalist offers unique specialties, combining different staple foods with Heibaiqie combinations to present diverse flavors.
The Full Pork Feast Market will take place from March 22 to 23, featuring 10 Heibaiqie stalls and 20 pork specialty stalls, totaling 30 vendors. The event will also include live performances and exhibitions, offering visitors an immersive culinary and cultural experience.
The Market Administration Department added that the Full Pork Feast will feature 10 classic pork dishes, including Steamed Pork Ribs, Imperial Stir-fried Double Kidney, and Braised Pork Knuckle with Bamboo Shoots and Vegetables. Each table, originally priced at NT$8,000, will be available at a limited-time discount of NT$2,025. Only 25 tables are available, and reservations can be made online on a first-come, first-served basis.
