Taking buses, finding parking spaces, and checking traffic conditions may soon be handled through a single smartphone. Taichung City announced its latest smart transportation achievements, including the "Taichung Go" app that integrates travel and daily services, as well as the Shuinan autonomous bus expected to open for public experience rides this fall. For commuters and holiday travelers, centralized transport information could save both travel and waiting time.
Residents who download the "Taichung Go" app and link a ride code can use their phones directly to take buses and the metro without carrying physical cards. Taichung residents can also enjoy the Double Ten bus discount, with the first 10 kilometers free on city buses and a maximum fare of NT$10 beyond 10 kilometers. The app also provides live bus tracking, route planning, and stop searches.

Another app, "Taichung Traffic Network", focuses on parking and traffic information integration. Features include roadside parking fee payment, parking space availability, live bus updates, metro, high-speed rail and Taiwan Rail schedules, plus YouBike and taxi information. Whether commuting, shopping, or traveling, users can check their phones before leaving and plan routes in advance.
Meanwhile, the highly watched Shuinan autonomous bus pilot project is expected to begin open-road testing this fall. It may later provide public rides and be used for shuttle services at large events or short-distance transport within parks. As autonomous technology and digital services continue to develop, Taichung's efficiency in commuting, parking, and transfers is expected to improve further.
