International Exchange Activities for Children of New Immigrants: Enhancing Cross-Cultural Advantages
The K-12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) organized an activity called “International Exchange Activities for Children of New Immigrants”(新住民子女國際交流). The activity is held for students who are next-generation new immigrants, to encourage them to participate in international exchange activities. Through international cultural trips, the activity aims to help students develop their bilingual advantage.
The activity promotes diverse cultural education to help students increase their international perspective. The activity provides language courses, and they will also discuss topics related to Southeast Asia.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, K-12 Education Administration encourages schools to change the school trips into online video meetings.
“International Exchange Activities for Children of New Immigrants” started in 2017, and more and more schools are participating in this activity. Due to the coronavirus outbreak in 2020, MOE encourages schools to use online videos to communicate with Southeast Asian students.
The K-12 Education Administration mentions the online video communication is a new type of creative way to learn. And the international school trips will continue after the coronavirus pandemic ends. Through education communication, MOE hopes to strengthen student’s international competitiveness.
