President Tsai: Taiwan is the hometown for new residents
President Tsai Ing-wen stated on Facebook that she would like to show her gratitude toward new residents and no matter where new residents come from, Taiwan is the hometown for new residents as long as we live on the same land, we are a family.
President Tsai invited new resident from Vietnam Hu Ching-Hsien (胡清嫻) to be first new resident national policy consultant. The government also invited new residents to lead the national anthem on major occasions such as New Year and Double Tenth Day. It also worked on the service for new residents such as expand the subsidy for the new resident development fund, and revised the certificate of the immigrant population, in accordance with the coding principle of the national identity certificate. The government has further incorporated the mother tongue language of the new residents into the curriculum, setting up a special course for new resident children, cultivating talents with international competitiveness, and launching new resident children rooting activities so that the they can get to know their parent’s hometown and learn to respect the diverse culture.
President Tsai also appreciated the hardworking of new residents in Taiwan to make great efforts for the land and brings many new experiences and culture into Taiwan. Tsai emphasized that diversity is the strength of Taiwan, hoping people to protect the value we believe and loving our land in the future.
