Interpreter training program for new immigrants in New Taipei to accept applications on Sept. 30
The Education Department of New Taipei Government has hosted interpretation training programs since 2009. As of the end of 2019, a total of 575 interpreters had joined the program. This year, the Education Department is expected to open online registration for the interpreter training program on September 30. The program will be held from Nov. 1-Nov. 29 at the National Dingxi Elementary School.
A senior interpreter from Vietnam, Zhang Peiqin (張佩沁), has served as an interpreter for 10 years and a mentor of local new immigrants. What impressed her most was that a new resident decided to divorce her husband just over a month after she came to Taiwan. Zhang assisted her in applying for legal counseling services for many times. Finally, the new resident divorced her husband. Since last year, Zhang has served at the Labor Department to help mediate among employers and migrant workers.
Director-general of New Taipei Education Department, Zhang Mingwen (張明文), said the interpreter training program helps enhance new residents' multicultural understanding and interpretation skills. People who complete the training program will have a chance to serve at the county government. For detailed information, please visit 新北市新住民好學平台. TEL: 26062895 ext 400
