TRA distributes water to migrant workers as gratitude for their cooperation amid virus outbreak
Eid al-Fitr, from the evening of May 23 to the evening of May 24, is an annual significant festival for migrant workers in Taiwan. Given that Taipei Main Station is one of the main places where migrant workers gather, Taiwan Railways Administration, MOTC, particularly followed Taiwan Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC)'s policies to publicize social distancing distribute bottles of water to migrant workers to appreciate their cooperation on combating the Covid-19 virus.
Although mosques and many local governments suspended celebrations of Eid al-Fitr, lots of migrant workers gather at Taipei Main Station. To follow the CECC's policies and avoid clusters of infection, Taipei Main Station and police officers had persuaded migrant workers not to gather at the hall or sidewalks. Director-general of Taiwan Railways Administration assigned the personnel of the station to distribute bottles of water to migrant workers to thank for their cooperation during this pandemic outbreak, TRA stated.
TRA emphasized that to follow the government's disease-prevention policy, it has banned sitting on the floor of the station’s main hall since Feb. 29, hoping everyone could follow it to protect self-health and others'. The administration added that Taiwan is a multicultural society and willing to embrace people from different cultural backgrounds. TRA respects every person's rights and will figure out ways to meet different groups' demands.
