YouTuber Xiaofei (小飛) from the United States, has been residing in Taiwan for about 10 years. As a travel lover, he often does outdoor activities and admires waterfalls, mountains, forests, and streams. Besides his passion for traveling, he also runs a YouTube Channel “Xiaofei小飛” as an outdoor adventurer who shares his travel experiences, and lists of attractions he visited before.
In this episode of the “New Immigrants in Taiwan” column, Xiaofei and his friend from the UK - Uncle Allan tried making English mulled wine on the campfire. Mulled wine is an alcoholic beverage made by adding juice, various spices, and sugar to the red wine.

The flavor of the wine can be adjusted according to personal preferences. In Western countries, mulled wine is a common drink during the Christmas season and winter as it enables one to keep warm.
Xiaofei and Allan prepared spices such as Star anise, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Clove to make mulled wine. As wine with high alcohol content is needed to make mulled wine, the ideal alcohol by volume should be 13-14%. The steps of making mulled wine are as follows.
Pour the red wine into the teapot, then add ginger slices, tangerine peel, spices, as well as the juice of Taiwan's seasonal fruit such as tangerine juice. The ratio of juice to red wine is 1:1, which can reduce the bitterness of the red wine and dilute the alcohol concentration.

Put the teapot filled with the ingredients on the fire for 15 minutes and one can start enjoying the taste of the mulled wine. If one prefers a richer flavor, individuals can choose to heat the wine longer for a better taste. Lastly, Xiaofei wants to let the audience know that camping is not difficult, and it can be successfully carried out without having professional equipment.
