To enable new immigrants to share their experiences and journeys working diligently in Taiwan, the Family Education Center of Tainan City invited 3 new immigrants from Jiangjun District for shooting a video named ‘Women Empowerment & Power of the heart’ (新女力.心力量). The video expresses the recognition for new immigrants living in Tainan, and also shows their unwavering will to bring happiness to the families.
Nguyen Thi Ming Sum (阮氏明心), Le Trih Trang (黎垂莊) from Vietnam and Zhou Ya Zhen from Cambodia were invited to share their work, family and learning journey. At the same time, the public was also invited to watch the film and write their reviews before November 19 to stand a chance to win exquisite gifts.

The director of Bureau of Education, Tainan City Government, Zheng Xin Hui (鄭新輝) states that the Bureau of Education strives to promote and implement education for new immigrants. The efforts made include school education, family education, and social education. Besides, diversified learning services are provided for new immigrants to adapt well to life in Taiwan, and New Immigrants Learning Centers were set up in Municipal Dongshan Elementary School & Tainan Da-Gang Municipal Elementary School.

Nguyen Thi Ming Sum has assisted schools in promoting the teaching of new immigrants’ languages. She also encouraged her children to learn the mother tongue at home and not forget their roots. Le Trih Trang helps the school kitchen every day and says “Seeing children’s happy faces makes me feel satisfied and self-affirmed.”
Zhou Ya Zhen, was diagnosed with stage-3 stomach cancer when she experienced discomfort during pregnancy. Her family accompanied her throughout the whole treatment. Recently, she is working with her husband to grow plants and even inspired to make non-staple food which is a popular product in the market now.
