Hong Kong and Macau students receive scholarships and VR gaming during quarantine

To allow Hong Kong and Macau students to feel at ease and improve themselves during the quarantine, Huafan University provided 18 high-tech VRs for each quarantined student to experience virtual reality games in their rooms. The school would set up two online courses for the students to select and enrich themselves, and they would receive 2,800 NTD (equivalent to all expenses of meals) after completing courses.

In response to the government's measures of epidemic prevention against nCov, 18 students have already been back to Huafan University on the 8th and 9th and stayed in separate rooms during the quarantine. The school attaches great concern to those students' health and mental conditions, so it mobilized all supervisors and officers to complete the comprehensive care plan of home quarantine and accompany them with love, supports, and interesting courses throughout 14 days.

President of Huafan University, Li Tianren, stated that as those students are still young and have not experienced such a long period to live alone, hence, how to help them settle down became a top priority. The school not only provided well-qualified facilities, living environment, meals, and basic daily necessities but set up the "Hong Kong and Macau students' health concern community" on LINE and Facebook to attach 24-hour concern for their physical and mental health and meet their needs of entertainment and learning.

President Li Tianren said that the Photography and VR Design Department of Huafan University provided high-tech VRs that cost more than 20,000 NTD and are both entertaining and educational for the quarantined students. Subject teachers would provide online operation guidance so that students could wear VRs to download games at any time in their rooms and experience virtual reality first-hand to make their quarantined period more fun. As the quarantined students need to hand in 200 NTD for daily meals, but after finishing courses, they will receive a 2,800 NTD allowance that is equivalent to all expenses of meals for 14 days. It is to encourage those students to improve and enrich themselves during the quarantine.
