The Hip-hop of Taiwan & Vietnam! Peach A1J sings, showing identity of young generation of new residents.

Through this year's "MTV Mother Tongue Rap Creation Competition", it encourages creators to use their own mother tongue for creation, attracting many young participants. The champion work drawing most attention is the "水蜜桃偵探社" composed of Taiwanese and Vietnamese rap singers桃子A1J and Lifloo.

The song "Belongingness (尋人)" which combines Taiwanese and Vietnamese took the first place. Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network has interviewed the hip-hop singer & songwriter 桃子A1J(陶怡君). As a champion, she is also a child of new resident.

Because of her Vietnamese mother and Taiwanese father, 桃子A1J grew up in Vietnam with his parents. She attended a local Vietnamese elementary school and started learning Chinese in Taiwan when she is 11 years old. She went back to Vietnam and then came back to Taiwan again while studying university. 桃子A1J said that she speaks Vietnamese often since young with her dad, In a black music club of the university, she found her enthusiasm for music creation. She and her club friend Lifloo decided to compose a song in their native languages (Vietnamese + Taiwanese) .

They discussed the music theme for a long time. It was when they brought up the topic of “growing up in Vietnam but parents calls them Taiwanese”, they have decided to use “Identity” to create the song Belongingness (尋人) with two languages and it brings them a champion.

Speaking of the issue of identity, 桃子A1J told the editor of "Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network" in a very firm tone, "I am a Vietnamese and also a Taiwanese." When I was a child, I was very confused with "self-identity" until the college years, I finally myself.

Lastly, 桃子A1J also encourages the second generation of new residents to bravely face their identity, and at the same time she hopes to heal more listeners through the music she composed.
