Taiwan's epidemic prevention measures continue, and the nationwide level two epidemic alert will expire on the 9th of August. The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, 指揮中心) commander Chen Shi-chung (指揮官陳時中) officially announced on August 6 that the level two alert will be maintained from August 10 to August 23 since the recent epidemic is under control and there are no emergencies.

President Su Chen-chang (行政院長蘇貞昌) convened an expanded epidemic prevention meeting on August 2 to discuss the global epidemic situation, domestic epidemic prevention, medical supplies preparations, and the current situation of vaccine delivery, and to discuss appropriate relaxing of related control measures after August 10.

Due to the recurrence of the Covid-19 Delta variant strain in different countries, the public is concerned whether the domestic level two alert will be adjusted after August 9th. Chen Shi-chung stated that the level two alert will be maintained from August 10 to August 23 because the epidemic is still under control and there are no related incidents. Because the observation time is still short; therefore, the nationwide level two alert will be maintained. Recently, different sectors of society expressed their opinions and actively discussed with relevant groups or concerned units.
