According to The Straits Times, Abdullah Abdul Rahman, a grassroots leader, wants individuals who visit the Tampines Changkat community fridge to feel as if they are purchasing in a store.
"I set up the supplies we receive just as you would see them in a store refrigerator. Even if they are receiving stuff for free, I want the visitors to feel like they are shopping, to feel joyful, "the 37-year-old stated.
Grocery store Tampines Mart, market Fengshan, and the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore, which donates veggies from a community garden it manages, are among the regular givers.
The refrigerator was stocked with eggs, veggies, and dragonfruit on the launch day. On the shelves next to the refrigerator, more food items including beehoon, quick noodles, and garlic were placed.
Desmond Choo, the mayor of the Northeast District, told The Straits Times that he was encouraged to see the block's numerous senior people take up the initiative and assist with cleaning the vegetables before putting them in the refrigerator.

He aims to dispel the perception that only discarded things are available in community refrigerators. It may also show people the greatest, high-quality stuff, he continued.
