To prevent the spread of the African swine fever, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) Chiayi City Specialized Operation Brigades in cooperation with the Public Health Bureau, Chiayi City visited food stalls to review the source of their supplies. Online shopping for and sending various animal products are considered violations and may lead to punishment.
The NIA Chiayi City Service Station also provided videos and information to new immigrants in English, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai.
Recently, illegal meat products containing the African swine fever entering Taiwan were seized. For the purpose of food safety, the Chiayi City Specialized Operation Brigades requested the help of a Vietnamese translator Chen Chu-li 陳竹莉 to help promote relevant information to new immigrants in various food stall businesses.

When purchasing raw materials, and food ingredients, please read the labels and review their origin, and avoid using products with unknown origins. The service station staff also provided multilingual services to conveniently spread information among new immigrants.
Ms. Wu Pei-jung 吳佩容 runs 吳鳳小吃 (Wu Feng Hsiao Chih), a restaurant near the East Market in Chiayi City. She has been running her business for 3 years and her ingredients and raw materials are sourced from local vendors near Nantian Market. For meat products, she aims to attract her customers with fresh ingredients. She stated that most of her customers are Taiwanese so she makes use of local ingredients to match their local taste.
NIA Chiayi City Service Station director Huang Yen-hsün stated that demand for meat products will increase since the Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching. For everyone's health and safety, food inspection in food stalls and shops will be enhanced. Director Huang hopes that new immigrants will grasp the information through the available multilingual channels.

Migrant workers, please pay attention to the [3 No Rules]: (1) Do not bring meat products to Taiwan from abroad, (2) Do not shop for meat products online and send them to Taiwan, (3) Do not visit livestock farms abroad. Violators will face serious penalties.
The Central Emergency Operation Center (中央災害應變中心) instructed that imported meat products must undergo quarantine in accordance to the Statute for Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Diseases. For unapproved products, they will be confiscated or destroyed. Violators may face a maximum of 7 years imprisonment. Please pay attention to the regulations because violators may face fines of up to NTD 3 million.
