Where to go for the summer vacation? Taipei City Animal Protection Office recommends you to visit Guandu Nature Park during summer vacation. Guandu Nature Park is situated in northern Taipei at the junction of Tamshui River and Keelung River. It is a major stopover site for migrating birds, especially waterfowls and shorebirds, as well as an important wintering and breeding ground for many species. 283 species of birds have been recorded at Guandu so far, qualifying this wetland as an Important Bird Area (IBA) recognized by BirdLife International.

Guandu Nature Park has many experience activities to let you close to nature and understand wetlands. This year, during July and August will especially hold "Wetland Explorer" (濕地探險家) summer camp for children, which integrate natural observation and wetland experience. Children can study about frogs and their habitat development. Adults can also join plant weaving hand workshop and handmade soap DIY.

On weekend, there is a theme guide "Understanding Buffalo", that children can get closer to Buffalo and learn about wetland, and there is a creative DIY for parents and children on Sunday afternoon. In order to enrich the summer life of elementary school children, the "Wetland Explorer" summer camp will be held in early July, integrating elements of natural experience, biological observation, puzzle solving and conservation concepts.

The camp aims to plan the relevant knowledge and activities for the 12-year state education curriculum, and let the children learn through the activity participation and capacity development. The camp will be held from July 2-5, 2019 for four days (no stay overnight), the target are students from Grade 3 - 7 of the National Elementary School. Registration is open from now on. Children who are interested in natural ecology are welcome to participate. Children in Beitou District can enjoy a 20% discount.

After you visit Guandu Nature Park, you can go to Guandu temple that not far away from the park. You can pray and see the view of the junction of Tamsui River and Keelung River and wetland area from the top garden of the temple.

Take MRT Tamsui-Xinyi Line to Guandu station and take a bus No.R35 to Guandu Nature Park.
