Dada Kim, a girl from South Korea, came to Taiwan and settled in Tainan. She runs a YouTube Channel "Follow Dada Kim (跟著多多一起走Dada Kim)" with her Taiwanese boyfriend, filming travel & food videos and recording her passion in life.

In this episode of the ‘New Immigrants in Taiwan’ column, Dada Kim tried food catering (辦桌) for the first time and tasted many delicacies that she has never tried before.

Starting from the first appetizer, shrimp dish (a food that is mixed with ground meat, shrimp, flour and other ingredients and then being fried), Dada Kim shouted excitedly that it is so delicious.

Later on, she tried Eel dish, steamed glutinous rice with crab meat, and duck casserole together with Taiwan's famous beverage apple cider. The food & drink combination is the traditional way of eating by Taiwanese and Dada Kim felt touched by the warm-hearted people who introduced the food to her.

Food catering is a tradition in Taiwan that celebrates weddings and year-end parties. People eat together at a round table and strangers sitting beside could get to know each other more by chatting and interacting with others. “We are like a family having dinner together and I feel a sense of kinship with them,” says Dada Kim.
