8th Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children Awarded to Nepalese Second-generation Immigrants for Nepalese Handcrafted Cloth Bags

“Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network” Recent winners of the National Immigration Agency, MOL's “8th Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children” have been revealed. Su, Cong-Xuan (蘇璁璿) and Liu, Zi-An (劉子安), two second-generation immigrants from Gukeng Township in Yunlin County, were awarded the bonus of the "Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Group" by Nepalese recycled handcrafted cloth bags from their parents' county.

The father of the sisters, Liu Ping-Han(劉平漢), claims that when he was younger, he used to work as a manager at a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. By chance, he ran upon Su, Qiang-Hui(蘇嬙慧), a Taiwanese elementary school teacher who was visiting Nepal. He and Su had a long-distance relationship before he firmly chose to move to Taiwan in 1992. It took him a long time to adapt because at first, the language barrier made it challenging for foreigners to find employment. His life began to progressively stabilize with the help and support of family, including his wife and two polite and responsible children.

Su, Cong-Xuan (蘇璁璿), the older sister, claimed that their parents have always instilled in them a positive view on life and encourage her and her younger sister to find self-realization in the musical and artistic fields that they are passionate about. Due to this, the two sisters made the decision to register in the National Immigration Agency's Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children. This program is based on the idea of using secondhand clothing and fabrics with Nepalese characteristics, incorporating Yunlin local elements when making clothing, cloth bags, and pillowcases, and incorporating sustainable development. They are thrilled to receive a NT$40,000 bonus and the judges' unanimity of approval.

Huang, Wen-Zhen(黃玟晸), the director of the Yunlin County Service Center, claimed that the National Immigration Agency is dedicated to developing the care services and life adaption counseling for new immigrants. The goal of the "Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children" is to support recent immigrants and their children in realizing their dreams while also spreading awareness about it. The goal of the government is to enhance new immigrants' social integration and family support. The "Domestic Training Camp for Children of New Immigrants," the "Overseas Training Program for New Immigrants and Their Children," and the "Multicultural Talents Training Program for New Immigrants" are a few other well-received events that NIA has hosted in recent years. Both recent immigrants and second-generation immigrants are welcome to join.
