The International Talent Taiwan Office was formally launched. According to the President Tsai Ing-wen, the establishment of the "International Talent Taiwan Office" signifies Taiwan's invitation to global friends to work, invest, and dwell in Taiwan.

President Tsai said that the "Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals" was put into effect in 2018 to create an employment gold card system that would enable foreigners to find more jobs in Taiwan during her remarks at the National Development Council (NDC)-organized International Talent Taiwan Office's opening press conference.

The rules governing employment and residency for foreign experts were further loosened in 2021, and related rights and interests including social security and taxes were maximized. There were more than 6,500 active employment gold cards as of September of this year, representing more than 100 different nationalities.

The NDC's original Taiwan Employment Gold Card Office will be expanded by the International Talent Taiwan Office, serving 56,000 foreign talents and tens of thousands of their dependents, as opposed to the current target of more than 6,000 employment gold card holders. Future "one-stop service" processes can address pertinent concerns related to children's lives, employment, immigration to Taiwan, and other related matters.
