Walking at least 3,967 steps a day can lower one’s chance of dying from any cause and more than 2,337 steps can lower the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, according to the most recent research published in the "European Journal of Preventive Cardiology". This demonstrates that walking less frequently is still beneficial for human health.

The more you walk, the better; this is true for everyone, regardless of gender, age, or location, according to Maciej Banach, professor of cardiology at the Medical University of Lodz. However, those under the age of 60 had a lower probability of passing away, greater than those who are over 60, showing that the earlier you begin to adopt walking habits, the better.

According to the study, participants in the younger age group who walked 7,000 to 13,000 steps per day had the most improvements in their health and were able to cut their chances of dying risk by 49%. Walking 6,000 to 10,000 steps per day reduces mortality risk in those over 60 by 42%. The research team also noted that there was no declining impact across all groups evaluated, but that further research is required to fully understand the health implications of "high step counts" of up to 20,000 steps.

Additionally, studies have shown that doing more than 1,000 daily steps will cut your chance of dying from any cause by 15%. By increasing daily activity by 500 steps, one can cut their chance of dying from cardiovascular disease by 7%.

Physical inactivity is one of the fourth most prevalent causes of mortality worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. As a result, research have demonstrated that walking offers several health advantages. Additionally, compared to other sports, walking is more practical and doesn't require any special equipment or training.
