Do you know if Keelung Islet, a small island that located in northern Taiwan, is about 4.9 km from Keelung Port and open for the public to visit?

Keelung Islet is known by the local community as Jīlóngyǔ (基隆嶼). According to local beliefs, this island was once a ghost island, where a woman named Shih-Yun continued to grieve her husband who died in a shipwreck. She continued to mourn until the death picked her up and became a ghost who continued to mourn.

Keelung Islet itself primarily used as a military training base and was closed in 2015 for island cleaning. Since August 2018 the island was re-open for the public, especially in the spring - summer.

In 2019, the crossing area from Keelung Port to Keelung Islet was re-opening for the public starting in early May. The author also had time to take part in garbage cleaning activities on the island and tour the island for several hours.
