Tolga Erdoğan (圖佳) from Turkey has been residing in Taiwan for about eight years. He created a YouTube Channel named “Best Of Taiwan - 圖佳” to share his daily life as a student in Taiwan. Back then, there were not many foreign YouTubers in Taiwan, so the Channel was quite unique to the target audience.
Tolga Erdoğan would share information about food, travel and invite other foreigners to discuss Taiwan cultures on the channel. Many years have passed, his YouTube Channel is doing very well, and he has founded other businesses as the sidelines.

The editor of【Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network】got the opportunity to contact Tolga Erdoğan and had an interview with him.
Tolga Erdoğan said that he met a Taiwanese exchange student in Turkey when he was studying in senior high school. Besides, he has relatives living in Taiwan too and thus developed an interest in Taiwan cultures, so he decided to come to Taiwan.
After arriving in Taiwan, he try to improve his Chinese proficiency at a language school first and later further his studies in the Department of Journalism of Shih Hsin University because his passion lies in media & communication. Faced some difficulties while filming videos, he would ask his friends and tried to find answers online and also learned filming & editing techniques while he was doing assignments.
In this episode of the ‘New Immigrants in Taiwan’ column, Tolga Erdoğan’s sister EBRU, who also has much love for Taiwan, traveled to Taiwan in 2019 and experienced Taiwan’s unique culture in Shilin Night Market.

Shilin Night Market is one of the go-to attractions that many foreigners would visit in Taiwan. Not only can have a taste of snacks, but visitors can also experience the fun of playing games such as throwing darts at balloons and ring toss.
Tujia and his sister EBRU tried cheese potatoes, sweet potato balls, sugar-coated fruit sticks, sugarcane juice and other foods, making them reminisce about their childhood memories. Moreover, they also experienced Taiwan’s deep culture by visiting a temple and throwing divination blocks (擲筊).
The video was filmed in 2019. The public is reminded that they must wear a mask and maintain social distancing when visiting night markets.
