Taiwan’s emergency center for African swine fever (ASF) has been promoting “Prevention of ASF” since the global outbreak of the virus. From now on, those who bring products containing pork from Thailand to Taiwan will be fined at least NT$200,000.
The Ministry of Labor (MOL, 勞動部) stated that it is considered violating the rules if migrant workers illegally import or receive packages containing pork, meat products, and processed meat products from infected countries (zones) to Taiwan. Furthermore, this also means violation of the “Employment Services Act” and employment permits will be revoked.

After the African swine fever virus is detected in Thailand, Thailand's livestock regulators have carried out virus control and culling of pigs, and then proceeded to notify the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
As Thailand authorities have announced the cases of ASF, the emergency center for African swine fever of Taiwan has stated that individuals will be fined NT$200,000 for the first offense will be fined NT$200,000 and will be fined NT$1 million for the second offense.

ASF is still going strong globally, the affected countries (Zones) include 15 countries in Asia, such as China (Hong Kong and Macau), Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, North Korea, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, South Korea, East Timor, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Bhutan and Thailand. Africa and North Macedonia have also been diagnosed with African swine fever recently.
