Rerum Novarum Center (新事社會服務中心), a non-profit organization which cares about the rights and interests of the vulnerable groups in Taiwan, has held a Thanksgiving Tea Party recently to celebrate its 50th anniversary. During the party, migrant workers and employers who have received assistance from Rerum Novarum Center enjoyed the great vibes and celebrated the 50th anniversary together.

A caregiver from the Philippines shared that she came to Taiwan more than two years ago. Unfortunately, she was asked to complete tasks which are not within her job scope and felt mentally and physically exhausted. Therefore, she sought help from National Immigration Agency (NIA), accepted a temporary home offered by Rerum Novarum Center as well as started learning the Chinese language. Now, she has found a good employer and is very grateful to Rerum Novarum Center staff for their encouragement and company along the way.

An employer from Yilan shared that after his wife slipped in the bathroom, her wife started having many illnesses and he could not manage to take care of her wife alone. Fortunately, he contacted Rerum Novarum Center and hired a caregiver who helped him a lot.

He believes that both employers and employees must respect each other to have a harmonious relationship. The help of the Rerum Novarum Center to the society also makes him willing to support the organization all the time. He said that if anyone is interested in doing good deeds, one can contact Rerum Novarum Center and spread love together.
