According to Eva Chen (陳懿文), general manager of Mastercard Taiwan, there are three significant developments in the international travel and tourism sector this year. China first reopened its borders in an effort to boost the travel sector. Second, the desire for in-person meetings fuels the resurgence of business travel as businesses progressively reopen their offline offices. Third, rather than buying things like durable products, travelers desire to explore unique trip experiences.
Australia, the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Canada, Indonesia, and Thailand make up the top ten most popular tourist destinations for visitors from the Asia-Pacific region as of March of this year, according to an analysis of the most popular tourist destinations. Taiwan ranked seventh among the top ten tourism destinations in the Asia-Pacific area for the first time in February of this year, according to the marketing manager of Data & Services department of MasterCard. This demonstrates that there is still opportunity for growth in Taiwan's tourist industry.
