The U.S. State Department (美國國務院) announced the results of the 2021 Global Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking assessment (2021年全球防制人口販運評比), and Taiwan still ranked first in the global assessment of more than 180 countries.
The Ministry of the Interior (MOI, 內政部) stated that the investigation of ocean-going fishing boats will be actively implemented by the different agencies. Taiwan’s recognition demonstrates that the government and the private sector have worked together during the 2020 epidemic and actively implemented anti-human trafficking work.

At the end of September last year, the United States included Taiwan’s ocean fishing vessels in the forced labor watchlist. The Executive Yuan (行政院) immediately led the Executive Yuan’s Council of Agriculture (農委會) and relevant agencies to discuss and formulate the "Fishing Industry and Human Rights Action Plan" (漁業與人權行動計畫) in October and prioritized the problem of forced labor of foreign fishermen and protect the labor rights of foreign fishermen.

In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the modes and regulations of international cross-border movements. In order to prevent human trafficking, the MOI made an inter-agency meeting at the end of December last year to formulate the "2021-2022 Anti-Exploitation Action Plan" (2021-2022反剝剝削行動計畫) and proposed a 25 item human trafficking prevention program and 76 specific strategies. These two action plans are aimed to protect the rights of the victims and to strengthen the fight against human trafficking.
