The Ministry of the Interior held a review meeting for the high-level professionals who wish to be naturalized as Taiwan citizens on October 27. Nine high-level professionals including Mr. Pan, an American who specializes in wildlife conservation, were naturalized as Taiwan nationals.
Since the amendment to the Nationality Law took effect on December 21, 2016, a total of 209 high-level professionals who have worked in Taiwan for a long time, and love and recognize this land, have been naturalized as Taiwan nationals without losing their original nationality.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the 9 high-level professionals who have passed the review include 3 in the cultural field, 2 in the education field, 2 in the economic field, 1 in the animal conservation field, and 1 in the financial field.
Among them, Mr. Pan, a 38-year-old American national, is currently the director of the International Department of the Taiwan Wild Bird Federation (鳥類保育組織). He is responsible for the project cooperation plan between government departments and international NGOs, and actively promotes Taiwan's conservation work through various social media and international activities.
Especially in 2020, when the Taiwan Wild Bird Federation was removed from the BirdLife International (國際鳥盟), Mr. Pan tried his best to collect information and negotiate with representatives to fight for Taiwan’s international status and dignity. His contribution to promoting Taiwan’s conservation work is highly praiseworthy.

After obtaining Taiwan nationality by naturalization, high-level professionals will have the political right and enjoy various social welfare benefits.
