The Kaohsiung City Government chose Kaohsiung guava as its main export item in an effort to market Taiwan's native fruits to markets abroad. By successfully exporting Kaohsiung's fruits to consumers in Singapore and Malaysia, Kaohsiung was able to increase market demand and sales, particularly of red guavas which locals in the Singapore-Malaysia region adore.

The largest guava planting area in Taiwan, according to the Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, is in Kaohsiung City, which spans up to 2,800 hectares. The most well-known of these is the red guava, which has a flesh that resembles ruby and a crisp, reviving flavor. Fruity and sweet, highly well-liked by foreigners.

The Kaohsiung City Government once again exported the red guava to the Singapore and Malaysia markets in order to promote Kaohsiung guava among more international friends. To further boost sales, promotional tasting events were held in conjunction with local supermarkets, chain department stores, and other outlets.
Statistics from the Council of Agriculture show that more than twice as much guava was shipped from Kaohsiung to Singapore and Malaysia over the same time period this year, totaling 46.6 metric tons. The Council will keep bringing fruits and vegetables from Kaohsiung to more foreign marketplaces in the future.
