Singapore increases Covid-19 testing capacity: Singaporeans buy home rapid test reagents for only more than NT$200

Singapore continues to expand its testing capacity. From June 16th, people can purchase a DIY rapid antigen test kit from a pharmacy, and they can self-test at home. The results can be obtained within 20 minutes. According to the reporter's field observation, the price of a single reagent set is about NT$200.

Singapore’s Health Minister Wang Yi-kang (王乙康) said that as Singapore resumes more activities, Covid-19 testing needs to be faster and more convenient. The Health Sciences Authority (新加坡衛生科學局) of Singapore has approved 4 DIY rapid antigen test kits that can be sold directly to the public. These test kits are easy to use, and results can be obtained within 20 minutes. People can go to Watsons (屈臣氏), Guardian (佳寧) and other chain drugstores and Unity pharmacies (仁益藥房) to purchase DIY rapid antigen detection kits. Initially, each person is restricted to purchase a maximum of 10 sets.

In addition, if the test result of the rapid antigen test kit used by the public is positive, they should immediately go to a clinic to receive a PCR nucleic acid test to further confirm whether they are really infected. They must be isolated until the test result is determined to be negative. Those who already have symptoms of respiratory tract infection should seek medical treatment and undergo PCR testing instead of using the DIY rapid antigen test kits.
