Migrant Workers Epidemic Prevention Guidelines: Employers implement "1 room 1 person" rules

 The Ministry of Labor (MOL) recently revised epidemic prevention measures for migrant workers. Employees are required to restrict living spaces to "1 person 1 room" to reduce the risk of cluster infections. Each person will receive a subsidy of NTD1,000.

Several tech factories in Miaoli County experienced cluster infections. To prevent this from happening again, the MOL announced on June 5 that except for cases involving sexual assault and human trafficking, employees are temporarily prohibited from switching employers.

The MOL's revised epidemic prevention guidelines for migrant workers:

1. 1 room must be assigned only 1 employee and working and living areas must have schedule diversions. Daily health inspections, surveillance, and contact tracing must be conducted. Employees with suspected symptoms must be quarantined.

2. Once an employee is diagnosed with the virus, they must immediately list down their close contacts in the workplace and undergo quarantine. Costs will be partially subsidized by the MOL if necessary.

The Deputy Director of MOL, Tsai Meng-liang stated that all epidemic prevention guidelines for migrant workers are in line with the regulations set by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC). In case of any violations, migrant workers can be fined from NTD300,000 to NTD600,000 (according to relevant provisions of labor laws). Employers who violate regulations are also subject to abolishment.
