National Immigration Agency's "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program" has reached the last stretch this year. NIA have issued an appeal to overstayers to seize the opportunity and self-report before June 30th to receive minimum fine of 2,000 NTD and be exempted from entry ban and detention.

The NIA emphasized that the third reading of the Immigration Act amendments passed on May 30 this year by the Legislative Yuan; among them, the fine for foreigners overstaying in Taiwan will increase from the current 2,000 NTD to 10,000 NTD to 10,000 NTD to 50,000 NTD, and the period of entry ban has been extended from a maximum of 3 years to a maximum of 7 years!

NIA appeals to the overstayers to take advantage of the program's last phase as soon as possible in order to prevent harsher penalties in the future. National Immigration Agency will also help overstaying migrants who self-report to finish the paperwork as quickly as possible so they may return to the nation and be reunited with their family.
