Dubbed “The Cirque du Soleil in Southeast Asia” by foreign media, the performance team Phare The Cambodian Circus “法爾劇團” hired Xu Qian Wen (許茜雯), who is from Taiwan and also a loyal fan of the circus, to join the administrative team and serve as a special assistant to the CEO to help expand the Chinese market.

In this circus, there is no elephant to walk on tightrope, nor monkeys to ride bicycles. This circus focuses on acrobatics which combines drama, music and dance to tell Cambodian traditional & modern stories, attracting tourists from all over the world to come and watch.

Xu Qian Wen introduced to readers the Phare Ponleu Selpak Association (法爾藝術學院), which is based in Battambang, Cambodia. The buildings on the campus are full of childlike elements and artistic sense.

About 1,200 people are cultivated each year, and they are engaged in visual applications and performing arts studies, so that children can learn arts for free and use art to heal their souls. Even children born in poor families have the opportunity to learn a skill, and achieve their dreams at the same time.

In addition to introducing the concept of the establishment of the association, Xu also shared that she was committed to international volunteers when she was studying in the university. She happened to work at Phare The Cambodian Circus when she was serving as a volunteer there and got fascinated by Cambodian art performances.

The audience is mainly foreign tourists, and the European and American markets are especially most stable. In recent years, they are actively promoting to the Chinese market, the audience is mostly from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries.

There are currently has 40 performers in Phare The Cambodian Circus. Many locals have been trained at Phare The Cambodian Circus since they were young. Now they are full-time performers, earning a monthly salary of US$200 to US$400, which is on par with that of teachers and workers. With the great salary, they are able to greatly improve the lives of themselves and their families.
