2022 is around the corner, many new immigrants in Taiwan will be participating in New Year's Eve activities with friends. To prevent the possible invasion of the African swine fever (ASF), Kaohsiung Brigade and Thailand Trade and Economic Office visited KESIA (高雄就業服務商業同業公會) to entrust Human Resources Agencies to promote “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” & “Prevention of African swine fever”.

Kaohsiung Brigade and Thailand Trade and Economic Office have visited Southeast Asian grocery stores, restaurants, markets, and vendors to disseminate the information, reminding foreign nationals not to order or import overseas meat products, even from their relatives. Announcements were made on Facebook fan pages of the Thailand Trade and Economic Office to encourage Thai residing in Taiwan to get vaccinated soon.

A new immigrant from Thailand, who is also an owner of a Thai restaurant in Taiwan, said, “I have learned that Thailand’s neighboring countries are already at high risk of African swine fever, so I would not sell illegally imported meat products.”

Commander of Kaohsiung Brigade, Zhao Zhi Cheng (趙志成), said that the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” promoted by National Immigration Agency (NIA) adopts four principles, “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, “won’t be banned” and it will last until January 31, 2022.

He also emphasized that mailing or buying pork products online abroad is will cause individuals to be punished fixed-term imprisonment of less than one year and a fine of less than 3 million New Taiwan dollars.
