Since yesterday (Sept. 26), the series of NPM Asian Art Festival: Mongolian Month has started. Members of the Ouyang Huichen Dance Company performed a Mongolian-themed piece at the opening of the Mongolian Month event at the National Palace Museum's Southern Branch in Chiayi County.
The series of the festival launches cultural exhibitions, lectures, and a book fair for citizens to explore Northern Asian cultures without traveling abroad.
Since 2017, the National Palace Museum's Southern Branch has held the NPM Asian Art Festival to lead citizens to explore Indian, Singaporean, Thai, and other multicultural rituals. The main religion of Mongolia is Tibetan Buddhism. This year, with the assistance of representatives from the Mongolian & Tibetan Cultural Center and Ulaanbaatar Trade and Economic Representative Office in Taipei, the NPM Asian Art Festival: Mongolian Month has been launched, echoing "The Khubilghan: The Incarnated Lamas of the Qing Dynasty and Related Artifacts" exhibition, said Director of the Southern Branch, Wu Mi-cha (吳密察).
Mongolian culture is a rich melting pot of shamanism and Buddhist beliefs with an infusion of nomadic values and traditions. During the Mongolian Month, a variety of cultural activities will be held. Every citizen is welcome to join, said the Southern Branch.
