Electronic ticket discount offer: Small blessings for regular TRA customers

To reward passengers who frequently use electronic tickets to travel on Taiwan Railways, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) will launch an electronic ticket rebate program starting from August 1, 2024. This program offers up to a 20% discount as a rebate, replacing the current 10% discount for electronic ticket users. The 10% discount will be available until August 19. The new program includes 30-day and 60-day electronic season ticket plans, allowing unlimited rides within the validity period.

The rebate program is divided into three tiers based on the total number of rides taken by the passenger each month:

1. 11 to 20 rides in a month: 10% rebate in the following month, equivalent to a 10% discount.
2. 21 to 40 rides in a month: 15% rebate in the following month, equivalent to a 15% discount.
3. More than 41 rides in a month: 20% rebate in the following month, equivalent to a 20% discount.

1. The electronic season tickets are available in two plans:

   1. 30-day season ticket: Unlimited rides for 30 consecutive days, priced at twice the fare for a single journey between the start and end stations each day, with approximately a 40% discount.
   2. 60-day season ticket: Unlimited rides for 60 consecutive days, priced at twice the fare for a single journey between the start and end stations each day, with approximately a 44% discount.

Starting from August 1, 2024, passengers can choose to use the TRA Frequent Traveler Card (free) or existing electronic tickets (EasyCard, iPASS, iCash) to purchase and bind the TRA electronic season ticket. Each electronic ticket can only bind to one type of monthly pass at a time and can be used for Ziqiang Express (excluding 3000 series Ziqiang, Puyuma, Taroko, sightseeing, and group trains), Juguang, and commuter trains. The electronic ticket gates will expedite the entry and exit process.
