2019 Pingtung International Kite Festival will take place at Gaoping Riverside Park on 2nd, 3rd, November. The theme of this year is “Animal Carnival” which is the fourth year of Pingtung government to hold the kite festival. It has invited kite players from ten different countries to join the event.
Pingtung County Mayor Pan Meng-an(潘孟安) stated that Pingtung International Kite Festival presented beauty of kites in different themes each year. For example, the theme last year is “under the sea”, whereas the theme of this year is animal which uses the main visual icon as monkeys, wild boar, Formosan sika deer, butcher bird, flying squirrel and Formosan black bear to create the joyful feeling of party and carnival.
Pan also presented that the kite festival has invited hundreds of kite player and professional kite-flying team from the U.S., Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Austria, Malaysia and Indonesia to join the competition and performance. There are also unique style kites, string kites and stunt kites in the kite festival.
Pingtung County Government Education Office pointed out that there will be lots of style kites and landscape kites on the opening day and arrange various interesting events such as exchanging kites with invoices.
In addition, the total length of the Rainbow Bicycle Road in Pingtung County is about 465 kilometers. The event site Gaoping Riverside Park is located in Rainbow Bicycle Road so that it plans to provide a 30-minute free bicycle riding in the kite festival.
