Junior high, elementary school in Taipei conducts online enrollment in 2021

According to FOCUS TAIWAN, new student enrollment to junior high and elementary schools in Taipei will be done online this year (2021) after in-person enrollment was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city government announced.

The city's Department of Education said new student enrollment for the city's elementary and junior high schools will take place from June 5 to 20 and June 15 to 17.

In previous years, students had to be enrolled in person, with applicants or their parents required to submit forms to the school they intended to enroll in.

Parents of elementary school students only need to log into the website for Taipei elementary school student enrollment at  https://eschool.tp.edu.tw/new  to fill in an enrollment form and complete the required procedures, between 9 a.m. June 5 to 5 p.m. June 20.

FOCUS TAIWAN says, new junior high school students or their parents, meanwhile, can complete the enrollment process by visiting  https://newstd.tp.edu.tw/Login.action  from 8 a.m. on June 15 to 11:59 p.m. on June 17, it said.

Those who have difficulty accessing the internet can still contact the school authorities to make an appointment to enroll in person, the department said.

FOCUS TAIWAN adds, admissions for public and nonprofit preschools in Taipei will also begin in June with all in-person registration canceled as well.

Parents are required to go to  https://kid-online.tp.edu.tw  to register first before these preschools draw lots to decide which applicants are admitted, it said.
