According to the Criminal Investigation Bureau, fraud "+886" calls were often placed to people's mobile phones in the past. Since then, the NCC has started to target those whose phone numbers have "+8860 to +8868" in the first four digits with a system to stop overseas scam incoming calls and international call voice warning measures. The number of phone fraud cases progressively decreased after the complete banning of scam calls, which made it impossible for frauds to repeat the same trick to deceive people once more. To swindle the public, frauds have altered the fraudulent phone numbers that start with "+886" to those that start with "+67" and "+102," respectively.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau advises the public to be vigilant and not submit personal information, transfer money, or use ATMs by following the directions provided in relevant mobile phone text messages or by clicking on links in such messages.
