Foreign teachers in Chiayi City tried writing Chinese New Year couplets & donning palace costumes to celebrate CNY

English Teaching Resource Center +1 City (嘉義市英語教學資源中心) collaborated with Wen-Ya Elementary School (文雅國小) to organize an “All-English Teaching Empowerment Workshop” for Foreign teachers in Chiayi City.

The activities include writing Chinese New Year couplets and donning palace costumes. More than 10 foreign teachers have participated in the event to have a deeper understanding of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

A teacher of Chiayi Municipal Min-sheng Public Junior High School (民生國中) – Norman, and another teacher of Minzu Elementary School (民族國小) – Neff stated that this is their first time trying to write calligraphy. Neff felt satisfied with the Chinese character “Tiger” he wrote.

Donning palace costumes, teachers took a video and delivered auspicious phrases to wish a Happy Chinese New Year to the audience.

A married couple, Nina and Andrew who are working in Shiuan-Shin Elementary School (宣信國小) and Wen Ya Elementary School (文雅國小) respectively, mimicked Bruce Lee's kung fu and played a few punches, lightening the atmosphere.
