NIA Taichung City First Service Center Held an Activity of Blessing Bags Weaving for New Immigrants to Harvest Happiness

[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] During Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia, every family will gather to eat Ketupat, which symbolizes a new beginning; and on birthdays, family members will also weave colored ribbons into Ketupat patterns and put red eggs in them as blessings for birthday gifts. NIA (Taichung City First Service Center) invited Indonesian teacher Wu, Mei-Fang to share the DIY Indonesian unique festive craft "ketupat blessing bag" during the family education course.

Teacher Wu, Mei-Fang stated that the preparation befre making a red egg blessing bag are simple; you only need ribbons, scissors, and a stapler to complete it. In Indonesia, a ketupat blessing bag will be prepared for the birthdays, filled with red eggs, and wishing for growing up safely and healthily. The new immigrants came to Taiwan to have a family with their spouses, which also means a new beginning. Teacher Wu, Mei-Fang taught the new immigrants to weave a ketupat blessing bag of their own and told them that this bag can carry dreams and blessings. Invite new immigrants to put their wishes and goals into the ketupat blessing bags, so that they can continue to work towards their goals in the future.

It happens to be the “nine-in-one election” this year. After 4 months of naturalization and household registration (obtaining an ID card), the new immigrants can enjoy the suffrage as the citizen of the country. NIA (Taichung City First Service Center) invites Commissioner Wu from the Ethics Office of the Department to conduct anti-bribery campaigns so that new immigrants can aware the importance of suffrage and anti-bribery. Director of Taichung City Service Center, Wang, Ji (王驥),  reminds new immigrants that after registration are welcome to vote. if you have noticed suspected election bribery, please call the reporting hotline: 0800-024-099.
