One Forty is a non-profit organization formed in 2015 that assists Southeast Asian migrant workers in Taiwan. The migrant workers are from Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Thousands of migrant workers have graduated from the “Southeast Asia Migrant School” (東南亞移工學校) with the help from One Forty. Southeast Asia Migrant School includes Mandarin language learning courses to help new immigrants develop Chinese language skills. It also includes financial management courses and computer operation courses.
Moreover, One Forty organizes activities to boost culture exchange, in aim to shorten the distance between Taiwanese people and the Southeast Asian migrant workers. They hope to break stereotypes and gain mutual understanding.
In the latest “Taiwan Made Simple” podcast launched by 4-way Voice and NIA Global News invites Kevin on the show. Kevin is the CEO of One Forty, the largest migrant worker organization in Taiwan. In the podcast, Kevin shares how the organization started, the details about the Southeast Asia Migrant School, the annual events held by the organization, and the future goal of One Forty.

Recently, One Forty is conducting an activity called Your Shining Moment. Many Southeast Asian migrant workers often spend lots of time working. They don’t usually have time to try things they like. The Your Shining Moment aims to help the migrant workers turn one-fourth of their time into their “shining moment.” Migrant workers can choose to be musicians, novelists, pâtissier, fashion designers, or models. The activity hopes to help migrant workers explore different possibilities.
