To provide an opportunity for foreign students to experience local cultures in Taiwan, the National Sun Yat-sen University organized the “Humanity Innovation and Social Practice (HISP)” program that invites international students & teaching staff to visit markets and old streets located beside Lotus Pond Scenic Area, Zuoying District. Therefore, participants were able to interact with the local community.

The activities were designed by both “crossing zuoying” team as well as foreign assistant professor Thiombiano Dramane Germain of National Sun Yat-sen University, who is in charge of the Department of Master of English in Asia-Pacific Affairs. Participants traveled to various places and visited unique stores that feature the unique cultures of Taiwan.

Li Si Xian (李思嫺), the chairman of the HISP program and an associate professor of the Department of Musicology of the National Sun Yat-sen University, said that many foreign tourists can be seen at the old Zuoying area.
This cultural immersion activity allows foreigners to have a better understanding of different aspects of Taiwan, as well as offers tourist feedback to the stores and tourism industry in Kaohsiung.
