In cooperation with IC Voice FM97.5 【New Students Registration-We are in Taiwan】, a series of exciting stories about new immigrants in Taiwan is launched. This episode features a second generation of new immigrant from Vietnam - Lin Zong Wei (林宗洧).
He was admitted to the Department of Sociology at National Taiwan University in his third year of studying in senior high school. However, he chose to take a gap year to explore himself in depth and carry out his life plan.
After graduating from senior high school, Lin Zong Wei traveled to more than 50 schools in more than 10 counties and cities in Taiwan by riding a motorcycle. At the same time, he was promoting “The Convention on the Rights of Children (CRC)” in the schools and speaking out for children's rights.

As Lin mentioned his own growth experience when he was young, he tried to conceal his identity of being a child of new immigrants in Taiwan due to the influence of the social environment.
Even so, he has proved himself while receiving schooling, and as well as that her mother’s parenting is right. "If one day, the second generation of new immigrants does not need to prove themselves anymore, and it means that the society is no longer sticking the negative label on them,” says Lin.

In 2019, he applied for the "Dream-Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children" held by the Ministry of the Interior, hoping to explore more about the self-identity and culture of the new immigrants' children.
Therefore, he took the second generation of new immigrants, who are still studying in junior high schools, to learn about the lifestyles, cultures, and immigration places f different ethnic groups by traveling to various places in Taiwan. In this way, the new immigrants’ children would be able to have a deeper understanding of Taiwan's multiculturalism and recognize their mother's hometown.

In addition, Lin also went to Chiang Mai, Thailand to participate in the "warm heart" organization internship. During the trip, he also found out some problems and observed phenomena. Hence, he tried to make a little change through actions such as developing children’s creativity, making them explore the surroundings, so that their lives are filled with laughter and happiness.
Lastly, Lin encouraged the children of the new immigrants the "be your own sun, and then you can become the light of others."
