In response to the COVID-19 cluster infections that occurred in kindergartens, Taipei City is making efforts to prevent the COVID-19 Delta variant from spreading by enhancing epidemic prevention measures. Taipei City increased hospital capacities and improved emergency taxi availability. The hospital wards can now hold 700 beds in 2 days, and 1,400 beds in 7 days.

Taipei City mayor Ko Wen-je 柯文哲 stated that they also increased manpower with 12 administration districts having their own independent epidemic prevention investigation team. The emergency taxi volume has been increased from 100 to 200 and the hospital wards are writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Hospital and hotel capacity are gradually increasing to serve the needs of those infected by the COVID-19 virus.

Furthermore, mayor Ko emphasized that the existing epidemic prevention measures must be strictly followed. He also stated that Taipei City will be monitored daily and will watch out for any cases. Mayor Ko calls out to the citizens of Taipei City to cooperate and adjust their routines according to the situation at hand.
