The Chiayi County Service Station of the National Immigration Agency celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival in advance and invites new immigrants to make "Snow Skin Mooncakes"

The Chiayi County Service Station of the National Immigration Agency (移民署嘉義縣服務站) specially cooperated with the Chiayi County Labor Force Service Union (嘉義縣服務人員勞動力職業工會) to jointly organize the "New Resident Mooncake DIY, Sharing Love to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival" (新住民月餅DIY，分享愛慶中秋) activity. On site, 20 new immigrants were invited to mix the fillings, and to make hand-made mooncakes. Twelve boxes of hand-made moon cakes made by the new immigrants were sent to the "Catholic Anren Homeland Kindergarten" (天主教安仁家園) in Liujiao Township (六腳鄉). Principal Hsieh Meng-Chieh (謝孟潔) accepted the mooncakes to share the joy of the festival with the school children.

Lin Bing-Huang (林炳煌), director of the Chiayi County Service Station of the National Immigration Agency, said that teacher Lin Chu-Chun (林竹君), a graduate of the National Cheng Kung University Department of Foreign Languages (成大外文系), who has a Japan nutritionist license and a B-level Western cuisine and baking license, served as the teaching instructor for this hand-made mooncake activity. The 20 students were new immigrants from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other countries. They used mung beans, red beans, matcha powder and other Chinese and Western ingredients to make "Snow Skin Mooncakes," which symbolizes the acceptance of diverse cultures in Taiwanese society.

At this critical time of African swine fever prevention, new immigrants are asked not to buy imported meat products and mooncakes of unknown origin. In addition to showing care for the new immigrants and promoting multiculturalism, it is hoped that this mooncake-making activity will comfort the new immigrants who feel homesick during the epidemic and will promote new mooncake recipes to replace traditional mooncakes containing meat products. The chairman also encouraged the participants to contribute their own efforts to the prevention of African swine fever, and to work together to show love and to eat healthy.
