Vietnam has resumed tourism for foreigners from 31 March

According to The Star, together with a policy of safe and effective pandemic management, the tourism sector in Vietnam continues to plan for recovery and adaptation to the new normal.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has submitted a proposal to the government to fully open international tourism, including welcoming foreign tourists to Vietnam and enabling Vietnamese tourists to travel overseas beginning March 31.

Vietnam will continue to conduct phase 2 of a pilot program to welcome international tourists until March 30, although it is planned to expand to places where citizens have gotten their third dose of the vaccination and low-risk zones.

International tourists can visit seven locations under the trial program: Ph Quc Island (Kiên Giang Province), Khánh Ha, Qung Nam, Danang, Qung Ninh, Bnh nh Province, and HCM City.

Travelers must show proof of a double dose of vaccination or proof of recovery from Covid-19 within 6 months of departure, as well as a negative RT-PCR certificate issued within 72 hours after departure.

Visitors are only permitted to participate in tourism activities if they have pre-registered for a package tour. If the traveler has tested negative for Covid-19 on the 7th day of the itinerary, they can continue to additional places that have been permitted for foreign arrivals.

At present, the COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Vietnamese government, include AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer/BNT, Sputnik V, Sinopharm, Hayat-Vax, and Abdala.
