The director-general of National Immigration Agency, Chung Jing-Kuen said in his speech that there are more than 570,000 new immigrants in Taiwan to provide with help on national construction earlier on a multicultural event held by National Immigration Agency. He hopes that new immigrants can be integrated with local lives and in a multicultural perspective by all the sector of society.
Chung Jing-Kuen also announces that from now onwards the mutual automatic immigration clearance between Taiwan and Germany has been launched. Germany is the fifth country after the United States, South Korea, Australia and Italy to mutually use automatic customs clearance with Taiwan. Taiwan has also become the forth non-EU country in the globe to use Germany's automatic customs clearance which make it more convenient to integrate with the international community.
The National Immigration Agency indicated that the United Nations designated December 18 as National Immigrant Day, in order to show the equality of the human rights. Taiwan also designated this day as National Immigrant Day, and the Immigration Department has held annual celebrations since 2008, up to now it has its 15th year.
The top 10 outstanding new residents. Immigrants, and migrant workers have devoted themselves in Taiwan for a long time. Including the Vietnamese new resident Zheng Ling-Qiao who was awarded the 2022 President's Education Award. Because of her ill mother, Ling-Qiao engages in agriculture with her sister after school to maintain family livelihood. CHEVANCE CHRISTOPHE PIERRE, a French new resident who has repaired three old houses with wasted materials devoted himself to restoration of old buildings by his profession in cultural restoration and painting. BAGAYAN EDUARDO JR.AYON AYON, a Filipino who works as a translator and dorm manager improve productivity by coaching migrant workers.
The National Immigration Department indicated that in order to help the new residents and their second generation to live well in Taiwan, the Government has combined the resources of multi departments to promote plans such as the Dream-Building scheme, the cultivation camp, and the empowerment of scholarship scheme for new residents and their children to help outstanding new residents and their children to develop their potentials and look forward to transforming it as new energy and entering the international world stage.
About 2,000 distinguished guests, including envoys that stationed in Taiwan from Germany, Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, India, as well as NGOs and civil organizations, attended the event.
