Global warming and climate change have led to very high temperatures in recent years. The Central Weather Bureau reports that recent high temperatures of 38 °C have been recorded in Taipei, Hualien, and even Taitung. The general people must use caution when outdoors to avoid heat-related illness, to protect themselves from the sun, and to rehydrate.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) also advised everyone that drinking enough water to stay hydrated is crucial during the scorching temperature. Keep proper ventilation if you choose to stay indoors to prevent stuffiness. When going out, try to dress in light, loose, and breathable clothing in light colors, along with caps and sunglasses, and avoid consuming sugary beverages.

Additionally, it is advised to set the air conditioner between 26 and 28 degrees if you want to lessen the temperature difference between indoors and outside. You may also put on a light coat before entering the air-conditioned space to reduce the risk brought on by the heart and blood vessels contracting as a result of the temperature differential between cold and hot. The general public should also strive to avoid going outside for activities between 10 am and 2 pm and avoid exercising in the hot heat. To lower the risk of heat stroke, outdoor workers are encouraged to relax for 10 to 15 minutes every hour, visit a cool location, and continually keep an eye on their companions' physical state.
MOHW also specifically reminds people who are elderly, overweight, or who have high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease to leave the high-temperature environment as soon as they feel symptoms like chest tightness, chest pain, or a rapid heartbeat. They should also try to lower their body temperature and take supplements and immediate medical treatment must be sought.
