President Tsai Ing-wen thanked Taiwanese medical staff for fighting the epidemic, and hopes to increase capacity and vaccine delivery rate

President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文總統) recently attended the "Online Meeting with the Taiwan Medical Association in Response to the Epidemic" (醫師公會全聯會因應疫情應變線上會議). The President thanked all doctors and medical workers across the country for their contributions to Taiwan’s epidemic prevention. There have also been good results in vaccine administration in hospitals, clinics, large-scale vaccination stations, nursing homes and institutions for disabled patients. In the future, it is necessary for the medical profession to increase the capacity and rate of vaccine administration.

President Tsai Ing-wen expressed his gratitude to doctors and medical staff across the country for their contribution to Taiwan’s epidemic prevention. She said that medical staff endure the heat and discomfort while they work under the sun at the screening station wearing protective clothing. The front-line doctors diagnose and treat patients and must report potential infections in the community. There are also medical staff in the hospital who take care of the confirmed cases. Most of them even sacrifice their time with their family to protect family members from possible infection.

In addition, Tsai Ing-wen pointed out that the Taiwan epidemic has stabilized and gradually been brought under control. With the arrival of the Covid-19 vaccine, counties and cities have started large-scale vaccinations with the support of the medical community. The medical community will still need to increase the capacity and the rate of vaccinations. Facing the post-epidemic era, many countries have encountered repeated waves of the epidemic. Therefore, Taiwan must also think about how to coexist with the Covid-19 virus. In the future, we still need to rely on the advice and assistance of medical professionals.
