In recent years, the government has been promoting the New Southbound Policy. Under the trial implementation of visa-free measures, the number of Filipino visitors traveling to Taiwan has increased rapidly.

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, in a meeting with the PTAA President Taylan, Taiwan Ambassador Peiyung Hsu (徐佩勇) expressed great interest in reopening Taiwan borders and easing up of quarantine guidelines for Filipino travelers.

“We are delighted to share that travel agencies are now seeing an increase in bookings and inquiries for travel and documentation, indicative of the market’s inclination to travel again, especially after the latest Travel Tour Expo that took place last November 5 to 7. If we can expedite more agreements and cooperation with other countries, especially our neighboring nations, we believe that this will drastically help in our country’s economic resurgence,” Taylan closes.

This time, with the assistance of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, the president of the PTAA initiatively proposed to establish a partnership with the Association. After the two parties discussed specific ways to promote Taiwan-Philippines travel and tourism cooperation, the PTAA chairman Taylan took the lead to sign MOU on November 17, and the Taiwan Visitors Association signed it on November 24.

In the future, the two parties will work hard to promote exchange activities between airlines and travel companies and strive to promote the dissemination of tourism information mutually.

At the same time, it encourages the communications and talent exchanges between members of both parties to jointly improve the quality of tourism and service. It is believed that it will enhance the friendly exchange of visits between the two parties, and be ready once the cross-border travel restarts.
